I know, I know. It’s not officially fall yet. But for me the most wonderful season starts somewhere in the middle of the summer. I’m not really a summer-in-the-city kind of person (and I’d rather spend every May to August somewhere by the sea) so every year I try to get through those unbearably hot days with thoughts of cold foggy gloomy fall. And I know too well that “looking forward to things is half the pleasure of them”. Anne said it right. And that’s the reason why I always carry the fall feelings in my heart all the year until it’s finally here. For me at the very beginning of September.
Even though my most favorite month is October when you really experience the true fall, all the days between September 1 to November 23 are fall days for me. And because I love looking forward to things, starting November 24 it’s the pre-Christmas season (but more on this later)!
I know so many people who don’t like or even hate fall (and winter) and I try to understand as much as they do when I say I hate summer. However, except their comments on how sad and rainy the fall is, the is nothing I don’t like about it.
For me the absolutely best and the most cozy feeling in the world is coming back home from a long evening walk in cold rainy weather and heading to the shower immediately. Getting warm after almost freezing. Without any doubt, it would be so much better if we had a bathtub in our rented studio but a long warm shower does the thing too.
Another thing that has the perfect atmosphere only during the fall days is reading a book in bed, covered with blanket with some candles lit on your nightstand or anywhere in the room so you can see their light.
Oh, and all those warm drinks – tea, cocoa, pumpkin spice latte… I’m not a coffee drinker at all but fall without Starbucks’ pumpkin spice latte? Never again!
As a huge fall lover I definitely have couple of my own traditions and things I like to do annually. However, last year was inexplicably weird so I leaved out some of the great things that bring that “it” to this season, if you know what I mean. That’s why I decided to make a list this time and try to check off as many items as possible and enjoy this year’s fall season to the fullest!
